Have you ever had the feeling that a Higher Power(s) is trying to tell you something with the things that are going on during your life? Maybe several different friends are giving you the same advice. Or perhaps you keep seeing the same message in the newspaper, on a billboard, on the subway, and it applies to a problem you’re having.

I’m getting a message like that right now. Two, actually.

About a month ago, I was in a fender bender. Because of the age of my car, the insurance company gave me the option of totaling it out, which I chose due to the age of the car and the mileage. But I didn’t have the money to get a new car – I need to wait for a particular windfall that should have only taken six weeks. I can still drive the car, and the money had a due date, so searching for a car was not critical. Important, but not urgent.

But then I found out that the funds wouldn’t be arriving for another three months (not the two weeks we were almost at). So I know I really really need to get a new car, and not only do I have to get a new car but I have to finance it. (Yuck.) So my problem moves from important to urgent.

And tonight, as I got in another fender bender (the other end of my car, thank goodness) and once again drove away, I reflected that perhaps the first incident wasn’t quite just a bump between molded plastic bumpers. This second bump was really a nudge, with Someone (or a group of someones, I’m not judging) telling me that I need to get in gear and get that new car. It’s time. And not only is it time, but I also received loud and clear the message that Hello, your car just took two beatings and you’re still driving away from them, and driving away unharmed.

I believe in fate. I believe that things happen for a reason, and that sometimes you get hints, or clues, about how things ought to go.

This is a pretty big hint, and I don’t plan on ignoring it.
