Off the Beaten Plan

I am Nicki, sole author at Off the Beaten Plan (for now). I have big plans for my blog, but they could take a while to manifest themselves. We’ll all just have to be patient.

I do not like boring titles for pages, categories or widget titles. However, I understand that some of them have definite SEO and user benefits, so here you find my About page with a little rebellion thrown in for good measure.

I am a mother of two, married to the love of my life. We met in college, and both of us recall utter shock when finding out the other’s age. (I still maintain it was me who doubled over in shock on the sidewalk – DH says it was him, but he’s older, so his memory must be faulty). ;)

I like emoticons, and I don’t care whether they’re unprofessional or not.

My children are lovely heathens who affectionately drive me insane.

I play too many online games. Visit me on Neopets any day – username 3rdshift, a holdover from my night job days. Use my referral link there, and I get points to play more games. It’s silly, I know. I still love it.

I enjoy Twitter (or “titter”, as it’s affectionately known as in my office). I don’t much care for Facebook (although I have an account). I adore Del.icio.us.

I just bought a house. I can’t believe I just bought a house.

Oh, yes. And I am more of a dork than that photo may lead you to believe. I’m working on that – something not cartoon-y but more reflective of who I really am. You know, inside. In the warm fuzzies.
